Winnipeg Singer/songwriter Katelyn Dawn’s infectious melodies and catchy folk pop/rock are sure to engage you from the first strum. Putting a heavy emphasis on relatable lyrics and catchy earworm hooks, Dawn will leave you entertained and delighted whether live or on a studio recording. As quoted by the Winnipeg Sun, “The heavy hitters can't upstage the hummable melodies and jangly hooks of Dawn's sunny root-pop, most of which wouldn't be out of place next to Sheryl Crow on your playlist”.
Influenced by many great female artists of the 90s and 00s like Chantal Kreviazuk, Sarah Mclachlan, Sheryl Crow, and Jewel, Katelyn received her first guitar at the age of 14 and immediately began writing song after song as soon as she learned how to
play guitar from an old chord book at her grandparent’s house. She started to perform locally and began her recording career at just 16. Dawn has recorded 2 full-length studio albums, and a 5-song EP.
Katelyn has performed for the Honey Jam Festival (an association fostering female Canadian artists), NXNE, the Folk Festival Young performers stage, opened for Mobile at the Grand Beach Music Festival, as well as opened for Tom Cochrane and Loverboy at the Summer in the City Festival. She was invited to perform on the Discovery Channel for a David Suzuki Special called The New Centurions, and has been featured several times on CTV and on E-Talk. She has been featured on radio stations both locally and abroad. In 2008 Katelyn auditioned for Canadian Idol and made it through to the top 16 gaining performing chops along the way.
Armed with an acoustic guitar, a zest for writing memorable and relatable music, along with experience and laid-back charisma, Katelyn Dawn is sure to make your evening and event unforgettable.
